Comments

Ever since I decided to move into a studio apartment, I have been worried about my couch fitting in the living room. My couch isn't huge, but the living room of the apartment is very small. So this morning I measured my couch and headed over to the apartment to see if they would let me measure the wall. They were very nice and I got to see the inside of my apartment for the first time. I was reminded how small the space really is, but also could really picture living there. (I never really did with the apartment I was suppose to move into last August) I measured the wall and was thrilled to find out that the couch will fit. I am so happy. While I was there I asked about the carports and how much they are a month. To my surprise, they are only $10/month. The last apartment I was lived in charged $25/month, but at $10/month I am sure I can fit that into my budget. Everything seems to be coming together perfectly for this move and I really can't wait to move.

A couple nights ago Lynilu and I were talking and she told me that I really needed to start responding to my comments again. I go back and forth in regards to responding to all your comments. I know that I like having someone respond to the comments I leave, so I don't know why I don't always do that on my blog. One of my favorite blogs always has great comments and sometimes the comment section turns into a whole new discussion.

So tell me what you guys like. Do you like it when someone responds to the comments, do you go back and see if someone has responded to your comments, and what do you do on your blog?

I like getting comments on my blog, but I wish that the poster could reply individually to each commenter. It's a pain to write them all up at once. So I never really go back to a blog to check to see if someone replied to my post.

I usually don't go back to check to see if there is a response in the comments. However, I do check back on your blog, because I know you do that, but on other blogs I do not.

I am a horrible, horrible person who rarely responds to comments. I would love to, but I barely have time to post at all, so I have to make choices. Either shut the whole thing down or drive myself crazy -- I choose someplace in-between. I do try to respond if someone asks a question though. I have to make an effort not to feel very guilty about this. :)

audra--i go back and forth between responding to my comments and not responding. sometimes i don't respond because i am just too busy

amy--i also feel guilty when i don't respond to comments, but i have learned over the last couple of months to not feel so guilty.

eye of the rainbow--ahhh..thanks for the nice compliment. hope you are doing OK>

I always check but dont usually have a response, and that makes me feel that my comment wasnt important. There are only 3 people who respond to my comments, and those I appreciate very much. However it doesnt matter, I will always check and read your blog. No response necessary.

ruth--oh i am sorry if you ever felt your comment wasn't important. i appreciate each and every comment I get...i am working better at responding to all comments.

Awww, thanks for the love, Caroline.

I've been told on many occasions that the comments are the best part of my blog. I can't disagree.

As far as responding, I'm a moody bitch. Just depends on the day.

Syd--you know one of my goals is to get a STFU in response to one of my comments on your blog. :)

I used to respond to all current comments. I don't usually respond anymore, but I don't really know why. Whatever way someone chooses to handle comments is cool with me.

Syd said...

You're gonna have to step out of your sweetness zone to get a STFU. I look forward to it. :)

It's fine either way. I think it's fun to know someone checks comments once in a while. It keeps us coming back.

lynn--i decided i am going to try to respond to the comments...i think it makes the posts a little more fun

syd--i read your blog daily in hopes of finding my inner bitch. i know she is in there somewhere....

kerry--it's nice to know that my readers keep coming back even if i don't respond to all the comments.

I love it whenever people pay attention to me (but not in person!), therefore I love it when people respond to my comments.

HOWEVER, I assume people hate me and are only toying with me by commenting on my blog, so I typically don't reply back because in my mind doing so would only fuel the flames of their loathing and ridicule. I feel like the entire blogosphere has a secret blog somewhere to make fun of me.

Geez, can you tell I've forgotten to take my meds for a couple days? Ugh. I'm off to remedy that and get some sleep.

fern--oh fern i am sorry you are having a rough day and week. hope you are able to get some sleep....

That's cheap for a carport!

If someone comments back that's cool, if not, that's cool too. I used to comment back, but then I got behind, and I'm too OCD not to go back and comment to all of them and just have a stretch without the comments. So I just don't know what I'm going to do.

Well, of course you know how I am. I always go back and read replies to my comments, and I reply to comments on my blog. Otherwise, it feels like sitting in a room trying to talk to someone who never answers, then starts a whole new conversation, then doesn't answer me again.

I know, I'm weird. Any sane person would realize that a blog is not a conversation in a room!

I need sleep, I think.

katie--that's what i thought too..i know it won't save me completely from the snow, but it will be a good start when we get a lot of snow

lynilu--i know...i know..i am working on commenting more...heck look at this one post...i am shocked at all the comments...

Well now, here's the thing. I do go back and see sometimes if a blogger has replied to my comments. BUT I suck at doing it on my blog and if I'm going to reply, I usually do it privately.

Caroline said...

traci--yea, i kind of suck at responding to comments too, although today i am doing really good with it...:)

*Ahem*.. you know I dig comments

I love the comments - keeping in touch with you guys and making new pals is pretty much the reason for blogging in the first place. But I too struggle with the best way to respond, since I comment and then rarely go back into the comments section.
Maybe I'll give this a try as well.

shea--yea, i know you dig comments...i always feel like people have enjoyed reading what i wrote when they comment...

julie--i am just hoping i can keep up with responding to the comments during the week....my work is so crazy that i don't just sit in front of the computer anymore...

I do like it when someone responds to my comments but I sometimes forget to go back and read!
I always try to respond to my comments.

I waffle on this one too! It all depends on if you have time to do it though, right? Sometimes I barely have time to post twice in a week, sometimes I have time to post every day and respond to every single comment too. I'd say do it if you have time, because yeah I think quite a few people do come back to see if you answered them.

However some comments aren't worth commenting back, if all you can say is, "Yeah I agree" it doesn't seem worth the time/energy.

PS: I absolve you of all holla-back expectations on this comment.
