Something New

I have experienced something I never did when I was in Kansas City. Yesterday when I was out walking Sophie almost everyone that drove past us not only slowed down and moved over, but they waved at us. I imagine Sophie and I could literally walk in the middle of the road and people would still slow down and wait for us to move over. You know how when you first learned to drive you learned that the pedestrian always has the right of way? This does not apply in the Kansas City. I don't know how many times Sophie and I were almost hit because some ass was too close to us.

I have one of those stakes that you put in the ground with a leash and Sophie is loving being outside. She won't let me leave her on it and come inside, but I imagine once she feels really comfortable here she will have no problem just hanging out on the front porch. Yesterday we were sitting out there and someone walked by and she didn't bark, just looked at them. She has also spotted a few squirrels, but hasn't attempted to run after them.

I love this picture of her:

Ben continues to do so well. He is walking around and acting normal again. The fact that he has calmed down makes me very happy. I think he really likes it here.

Last night I woke up around 4am and decided to get up and see what was on TV. I ended up staying up for an hour watching a couple episodes of Roseanne. I forgot how much I love that show. It's so good to have cable again.

Hope everyone has a wonderful Sunday.

I'm sure Sophie will soon only want to be outside. Glad you are enjoying cable.

bobbie--you have no idea how happy i am to have cable again. it's nice being able to watch something in the middle of the night. :)

mj--i am sure within a week or so she will be very happy to just be outside. i think she is still a little afraid that i am going to leave her.

Is there by chance a clothes line? If so, she might like being hooked to the line so she can run up and down it.

I'm glad everyone is settling in and getting used to the house. Within a couple weeks, it will be as if you have lived there forever. Well, make that a month; after you introduce Molly, there will be another little adjustment period. You'll be just one big happy family, won't you? :D

lynilu--there is not a clothes line, but I can see where there once was one. I am going to go out and buy another leash that can be clipped on the one she has so she can walk around the yard more. i think i am going to wait a few more weeks before we bring molly into our family

julie--you have no idea how much i am loving my small town. i love that i can take sophie for a walk around the block and not lock my front door. but then it also helps that the sheriffs office is right across the street.

I'm happy that you are so happy and content and everyone has made the move so well!

Well, that must be because you didn't live in Perfect Village. :) I know lots of people in our neighborhood only from dog-walk waves.

I'm glad you're loving the new place!

amy--i am sure it was just where i was living because when i was growing up in leawood they were a lot better. but my old apartment was so bad and i hated walking.

I had surgery in January and woke up every morning at 4:00 for some odd reason. I would watch the hour of Roseanne then too. LOVED it.

I wake up in the middle of the night ALL THE TIME and watch Roseanne. I love it, too. ;-)

I'm happy for you that you're enjoying your new town so much. And you're so kind and cute with your animals! :-) They are lucky to have you.
