The Journey Part I

The Journey has officially begun. I went and signed my lease today and went through about 50 pages of what they expect of the residents. Most of it was common sense and it makes me wonder why they had to include that. One that I thought was crazy was:

"Eating the roofing material or tar is prohibited"

I would love to know why they had to put that in there. After reading this I decided it would be a good idea to read the entire lease agreement. It sounds like it could be pretty funny.

After signing the lease and doing an inspection on the apartment I went to take some things over. I am having to move a few things, but thankfully most of it will be done by the movers. I took Mr. Fish over and he seems to be adapting well to the new environment. It was kind of a bumpy ride and I did spill some water.

As I was taking a few things in my apartment I realized how small the space really is. For some reason the kitchen seemed bigger when I first looked at the apartment. I have almost no cabinet space. Both the refrigerator and stove are so small compared to what I have now. I may be selling some things on Craigslist because I will not have room to store them.

As I stood in the apartment I couldn't help but feel proud. Yes my home will be small, but it will not be lacking in warmth and love.

What kind of complex are you living in that won't allow you to eat roofing material or tar? Seriously?

Hope the move goes well.

Good luck with the move, dont be eating any roofing material if you get hungry during the move.

Oooouuu. You started the move! Hurray! I though you weren't posting till later, so I completely missed this!

Well, damn. I was planning on asking for roofing tar soufflé when I came to visit, too. Now I'm as pissed as Ben.

Oh, yeah...."Cozy gingerbread house"!! I like that. Of course, people will wonder about your stability when they realize it's an apartment, but who cares! LOL!!

Enjoy your new place. Your picture of Mr Fish has me thinking about one of my family's moves. I was only 3 at the time, and don't remember it but the story has been told many times in our family. The move was about a 4 hour drive. Our fish made the ride in the center of the back of the family station wagon, surrounded by boxes. At some point the car hit a major bump and a good portion of the water sloshed out of the bowl taking the fish with it. Though my parents wanted to rescue the fish they were on a winding mountain road and there was nowhere to pull off. Alas, that was the first of many fish who met their demise while in my families care...

I've really found that the amount of 'stuff' we have grows in proportion to the place we live. Every time I've moved somewhere bigger, the amount of stuff grew, and that's just not necessary! You will feel your load lighten when you downsize, that's something I've been working very hard on myself, now I love getting rid of stuff, especially when I can find a friend who really needed what I didn't. Just keep the best stuff, your favorite stuff only - that's going to feel awesome.

Congrats on the new place. I feel confident that you will be able to contain yourself with the roofing tar.

I'm imagining the kind of person for whom the thing about not eating the tar or roofing material could be a deal breaker. Hmm. ;^)

Congratulations on getting settled in your new place. It's especially awesome that you can keep your animals! Lots of love there indeed. :-)
