This & That

I read this story today and it really pissed me off. I don't understand how people could just leave their pets behind. When I was looking at apartments I had to make sure that all my pets would be welcome. There is this one lady at work that took her dog to a shelter because he was too active. I just don't get it. Aren't dogs suppose to be active? It was so hard for me during the summer when I had to find a home for Astro. It broke my heart and still to this day I can't think too much about him because I wonder if I did the right thing. I still feel guilt about it, but pray that he is doing fine.

One a lighter note: I have found a new favorite show. I love seeing people acting like complete fools. You really need to check out this show.

For some reason I have had trouble finding things to blog about. I have all these things I want to share, but I am having trouble finding a place to start. So I am asking help from you guys. Is there anything you would like to hear more about: growing up as a Jehovah's Witness, being married to my ex-husband for 5 years.......etc. I am hoping one of your comments will help me get over this writing slump.

OK, I reread that and the switch from the angry topic to the chatty one was not clear and sounded strange. Here it is again, with finesse!

Oh, now you've done it, Caroline.

An animal abandoned, neglected or abused should bring the same punishment as a baby or toddler. They are just as helpless. Now you moms of young children, don't toss a rope over the tree branch just yet. I have children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and I know how precious they are! I'm just saying that these animals that have been "pets" are terribly defenseless. They don't know how to survive in the wild, and if they are locked in a building, they have no chance. I absolutely hate it! I'm reduced to tears over these things. If you take on a pet, you are responsible for it. PERIOD. That can mean finding a new home if you can't deal with it, but you don't just throw it out or go off and leave it or harm it.

I worked for 20 years in social services, and I want to say this .... it is a fact that people who abuse or neglect animals often become abusers of children and later, even of adults, because they have a lowered sense of the value of l.i.f.e.

OH, whew. I'm done with that.

Don't worry about your slump, Caroline. It will be temporary. If you want to give everyone a laugh, tell them about some of the stories about things you were so naive about because of how you grew up.) You had so much to learn about daily living (How to vacuum a carpet or other household tasks that you didn't encounter until you were older than many of us. Your rather privileged childhood led to some funny stories, much like the lack of sex ed the other day!

A few months ago I went through my college years chronologically to tease out why I ended up getting married so young to someone who was not a good fit for me (and also why college sucked).

Or, talk about your love of "Little House." When did it start, did you ever dress up as the characters (my mom made me a killer outfit!!), what was your favorite episode, etc.

Or, talk about how you chose your pets' names.

How about your ideal evening or weekend or day to yourself? What would you eat, where would you go, what would you do, what shows or movies would you watch, etc.

lynilu--i totally agree with you about the whole pets thing. my brother is horrible at gets pets and then just dumping them off. oh, and your idea to talk about the whole vacuum incident is good.

I particularly like reading about your life as a JW. It's been a huge help/relief to learn that I'm not crazy when it comes to this stuff.

I'm in a slump too. It's all the ebb and flow of blogging.

traci--no you are not crazy...it just sucks how sometimes we feel that because of the brainwashing... i think the jw stuff is interesting for people that aren't jw's as well because some of it is just so shocking

katie--i probably should take a few days away from blogging, but i think i am addicted because i can't even think of not blogging for one day...i need some help. :)

I don't get it about people giving away their pets either. Like it's just an inconvenience. It's a LIFE people! Grrrr..... I am sure Astro is fine. You were meant to keep Brady in his final days and you did a great job of it.

Hmmm.... I guess I could be nosey and ask about the break up of your marriage.

let's see....hmmm... topic for blog...hmmmmm....how about "Caroline's Favorite Things"...sorta like Oprah- only you wouldn't have to provide all of your readers with the items, unless of course you felt the need to do so.

patti--thank you for the reassurance..i worry about astro so much, but i know that there was a reason i had to let him go and keep brady. your idea of sharing about the end of my marriage is a good idea..

shea--oh, i like that idea. i will do a list and take pictures of my favorite things...thanks for the idea

I'm also in a slump but mainly because I'm so swamped at work I can't even sneak a short post in anymore. I'm also working long and late, I get home and all I want to do is eat and veg in front of the tv.

I like when people take pics of something they're doing in their home (you're going to have lots of material on that soon). Oh and of course cute animals pics.

Oh and yes it is a solid FACT that animal abusers often later abuse children or their partners. I agree with Lyni 110%!~
