On Friday my main boss and one of my other boss' were talking about a party they were going to that night. My main boss looked at me and said, "Caroline you are more then welcome to come if you want to". So I asked her what kind of party it was and she kind of looked at me and smiled and said, "A party for girls". I wasn't sure what that meant, but then my other boss blurted out, "It's a sex toy party". I told them I would have to think about it.
First of all, I would never in a million years go to a sex toy party with people I work with. Can you imagine buying something and the people you work with know what kind of sex toy you have???
I guess I should feel flattered that they did invite me, but still....
So this morning I asked my boss how the party went and she said it went great. She then started describing some of the things they were selling. Man, there is a whole world out there that I had no idea existed. She told me she is having a smaller one and that again I am invited.
If it were anyone but my boss I would probably go. But I can't see myself going to a sex toy party with my boss and then sitting across the table at a meeting the next day talking about payroll.

I'm with you ... I would have trouble sitting with almost anyone I actually know while discussing and ordering sex toys!! Arghhh. But I also couldn't walk into the places that sell them either. I guess I'm stuck, aren't I? :'(
lynilu--you always have the internet. no one will know and the packages come in plain brown packages. (or at least i have been told they do--hehe)
Ive been to those parties before and they take you and you alone into a room where you order things and they put it in a bag that noone can see what you have :)
they are fun but i agree with the boss it would be hard!

Ugh, sometimes there has to be a line between play and work. This would be my line!
I've been to them with the girls and have had a blast. You go into a separate room to make your purchases, but everyone discusses it anyway.
That being said, there is NO way I would go to one with people I work with, wrong, wrong, wrong.

katie--i am sure it would be fun, but i am not sure i could look my boss in the eyes again after going to a party like that with her.
I can see why you wouldn't want to go. I have been to one with friends and even that was odd. You need to do what you feel is good for you.

Ha Haaaa I have to agree with you on that one. Some things just should be kept private from co-workers in my opinion! Yep there is a whole world of things at those parties!
I have a great story about sex toy parties..
My son interprets for the deaf and was hired to do one of these parties.
As others have said, they take you in a private room to discuss the pros and cons of each item of interest.
Now..imagine this..you are a str8 young male...interpreting this information for sexy, young women who are acutally interested in purchasing. HE HAD A BLAST!!!

Oh I would go, but (a theme is going on here,) I am not exactly shy. I'm dying to have one of those parties, but I don't really have very many friends so no one would be there!!!

Oh, you should totally go. When you buy something, it's completely private. No one knows what you bought. We went to one with my partner's work people, but she's good friends with a lot of the people she works with, so it wasn't quite the same as going with people you only see at work. It was wild! Also, it's not all sex toys. They sell bath products and things like that too, so if you bought something people wouldn't automatically assume that you bought a sex toy.
