Moment in Time

Well the luncheon went great. No I did not order the most expensive item on the menu and no I did not become intoxicated. As usual my bark is worse then my bite.

I did however order the Shrimp Scampi which was so good, but man was it rich. I asked for extra garlic which I think was a mistake. Luckily everyone had some garlic in their food so I'm not the only one that has stinky breath around here. We were joking how on the news tonight they were going to be reporting about an unknown garlic cloud on our block. Someone commented on how I hardly ate anything. I left feeling completly stuffed and wasn't sure if I was going to make it to the car. I guess my stomach is getting smaller because it felt like I ate a lot more then I guess I actually did.

During the luncheon my boss got up and gave a little farewell speech for me and presented me with a card that everyone had signed and a $75 gift certificate to Target. My boss is an older man and it's really hard to know what he is thinking. It was weird/nice seeing him express his sorrow for having to let me go and how great of an employee I was. It was nice getting that reassurance from him that I was a good employee and that they tried everything so they didn't have to let me go. The CEO of our agency then got up and spoke about how much I had brought to the agency and that the thing about me that was going to be missed the most was my spirit. Made me want to cry, but I vowed not to cry. At least not until Friday.

The lunch was nice and for one moment in time I felt special and unique.

You are very special and unique. If you only felt that for one moment, I'm not doing my job. Enjoy the goodbyes and get ready for you time.

I didn't think you would really get schnockered at the lunch, but the image of it is pretty comical. It must be a bit strange to have the goodbye lunch done, but still 3 days to go, huh?

What a lovely lunch and a lovely day to be validated by those you work with. Sorry that it came at a time when you have to say good-bye.

Enjoy your last few days. I suspect that the best is yet to come!

Hey! I was gonna say what Laura said! Well, not the second sentence, that's her job, not mine!

One thing I hope for you is that you continue to grow in your self confidence, to know what a cool, valuable person you are. We all know it, as reflected in those words about you at the luncheon. I want you to know that you are as good, as kind, as smart, as necessary as the rest of us already know. Never cease to value who you are. I love you, my friend.

You ARE special and unique. (And I wrote that before I read anyone else's comments because I know everyone else is going to say it and I didn't want to feel like I was copying. LOL!!!)

I'm glad it was a special day for you. You deserve it. Enjoy your last couple of days.

What a wonderful send off for you, and how good to be able to hear all the nice things people say! Even just knowing you from the blog, it doesn't at all surprise me that people had such glowing things to say, you're just that kind of person. After your "me" time, the next place you work will be very fortunate to have you!

Mmmm shrimp scampi. How I heart it. Glad you didn't over indulge. I sorta knew you were kidding about the alcohol part!
