Part Cold, Part Rant, Part Inspiration

I think someone forgot to turn on the sun this morning. We woke up to horribly cold temperatures. Today high is only 20. Add the windchill and it feels a lot colder then that. The sun is shining brightly, but doesn't seem to be doing anything but look pretty. I like cool weather, but this bitterly cold weather is just too cold for me. Hopefully my car will be warm when I leave work in a few hours. The only good thing about having a black car is that it heats up nicely in the winter.

Ok, I need to vent here for a second. (Taylors: if you are reading this, this vent is NOT about you.) I lurk on many blogs. I find them randomly or through comments they have put on other blogs. It usually takes me a while to comment because for some reason I am nervous. I don't know why, but I am. Maybe it's because really I am shy in person. So when I do finally comment it's because I feel comfortable telling them who I am. Last winter I found this blog and the person ended up living in the KC area. She was commenting on the crazy weather we were having. I put a post about how I could relate. Within a couple hours she put a post up about how the blog was just for family and dear friends. Well, excuse me. If you want it that private maybe you should just send emails to your family/friends or better yet..call them. This person was acting like I was invading their personal family space. Anything on the internet is not private. Then there is this other blog that I have been reading since July. I finally got the courage to comment a month ago. Well, this person put a post up yesterday and I was the first to comment. She happen to do the last meme that I did. I said something about me doing it. I noticed she came to my blog today and then went back and deleted my comment. I then noticed she has gone back and deleted the last 3 comments I made. I had just added her to my sidebar in the "blogs I heart" part. The weird thing is that I have had several people come to me via her blog and comment on my blog. I just don't get some people. End rant.

Laura has really motivated me to get back to the gym and get back into shape. She is going to the gym 3-4x a week and working out. We talked a little about me training for the triathlon as well. I think have the mind over matter part, but all I have to do is want to do it. I probably will end up training with Laura since I am so competative. I don't see me sitting on the sidelines while she is doing the triathlon. Part of me is really excited about it. I guess if you can't beat them, join them.

**Edited**Since I have had several new people put comments on my blog I would like to welcome all you that have been lurking to comment. I promise to welcome all that decide today is the day to have the courage to tell me who you are, how you came across my blog and why you keep coming back.**

**Edited 6:40PM**I got a very eye opening comment from one of the blogs I visited and the comment had been deleted. After this comment I realized that the picture on my profile was not appropriate for all the blogs I visit. This isn't because of people being prejudice, but because sometimes there are little eyes that see the comments. I apologize to anyone I may have offended. My picture has been updated to a more appropriate picture and I personally would rather look at one of our Florida sunsets then the other picture I had up.

Please continue to come out all you lurkers.**

That blogger is rude! And you're right, the internet is not private.

We had -20 windchills here this morning, yikes. Counting the days until Spring already.

What the heck. If you put your life out there on the internet what do you expect. You know you can set it so that your blog isn't public. That would be irritating, it's their loss in my opinion.

Where I live,it's below zero with the windchill. I've been in long underwear for the last several days. I feel like a total wimp, but I get so cold.

sandra--i was thinking about you up in MN. I knew if it was cold here you were probably about 30 degrees colder then us. stay warm

danbo--how dare you comment on my blog. :) just kidding. glad you had the courage to comment on a post like this one. looking forward to reading more comments from you

zoe--my thoughts exactly about those two bloggers. i have a few choice words for them.

That is really rude. I have the same problem as you...I read blogs and am always very chicken to comment. SO I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to comment on yours. I do not have a blog of my own but I do read yours...I hope you don't mind. Since I don't have a blog, feel free to email me at troubles4u7@yahoo.com

Ummm...hi...my name is Not so Pregnant and I decided that today was the day that I wanted to comment on your blog because I just think that you and Laura are the coolest bloggers out there.

Ok, I'm just stopping by to say 'Hello'. I agree with the other commenters, the blogger was rude and shouldn't expect any kind of privacy on the internet. As my preschooler teacher always said, "A stranger is just a friend that you haven't met"!

OK, OK, OK, I have been lurking. But I like to keep up with the neighborhood. You are so connected to my mom. She is my world. Because of that you are too. I care for you and Laura even though I don't really know you too much. Geez, give me a break.

emily--thanks for the comment. please feel free to leave more comments.

nsp--thanks for leaving a comment. i LOVE reading your blog and seeing what you and zac are up to. btw, i love your quote at the end. your preschool teacher was a very smart person

terrilynne--i thought you had been lurking, but wasn't completly sure. thanks for the very sweet comment. your mom is an awesome person and we miss her terribly around here.

I am here daily...but you already know that since I leave comments(too many probably). Those bloggers were just downright rude. Man I welcome anyone who wants to come be bored by my writings. :)

Gosh, I was going to comment about rude bloggers, and suddenly I'm overwhelmed with the sweet comments about me!! Wow!! Well, I love all three of you (TL, Caroline, & Laura), and I thank you so much!

OK, I'm recovered. The Rude Bloggers Of The World is an organization of bloggers that are just too stupid to know that if you want a private blog, accessible to only certain people, there are ways to set it up. They are also too stupid to realize the things everyone has said here . . . if ya don't want it out there, DON'T PUT IT OUT THERE!!!

BTW, I had just looked at the weather in my favorite places just before I came here, and the REAL reason was that I wanted to invite you to come vist me in my balmy climate where it will be 23 tonight (warmer than your daytime) and up to 43 tomorrow! Hey, we could go swimming here, right? OK, no swimming, but an extra 20 degrees surely sounds nice, doesn't it? Nah, nah, nah nah, nah!

Caroline...It wasn't an easy decision I made. I've really enjoyed your comments as they have been very sweet, but when you changed your blog picture I had complaints since I have young nieces and dear friends daughters who read my blog. They were shocked by the picture. Plus there were a few others that spoke to me about it. Yesterday a couple of my boys walked in my office while I was reading comments and they had plenty of questions about the picture too. I've never been a judgmental person and know you have a right to live the way you choose, even if I or others don't agree. That's what agency is all about. I certainly didn't want to offend you, but didn't want to have my family unhappy either. If I could have just deleted the picture and not your words, than I would have. I'm very sorry and I hope you and Laura have a Merry Christmas too!

casey--you can never comment too much. I love reading our comments

lynilu--you have a great daughter and i love how she has decided to comment on my blog as well. i knew she had been lurking, but it's nice that she commented

jolene--accept my apologize. my picture has been updated and I can completely understand your reasoning.

Jolene George said...

Thanks so much Caroline. I'm so glad you understand! :o)

Caroline said...

jolene--i am glad i was able to resolve this. i love reading your blog and i am constantly amazed at how creative you are. and you do have the cutest grandbaby out there.

I like your new picture as well. That is one of the reasons I am scared to let my children out into the world. . .even safe blogs lead to questionable ones!!! Everything I read is great, here and most places, but every once in a while I come across something and think, boy am I glad A doesn't have access to it (or better yet, P who is 5 and reading well above his age level; but still with the thoughts of a pure 5 year old) But anyone too chilly aught to visit FL. Today was beautiful 76 in my neighborhood. Tomorrow will be down right rude at cloudy, rainy and near 60 if we are lucky!!!!! BTW, I am not complaining!!!!

Caroline said...

tl--thank you. laura warned me about my last picture, but i was too stubborn to listen. she is the brains of the family. the internet is such a great, yet scary place for kids. when we have kids they will not have access to a computer (without supervision) until they go to college.:) you never know who is on the other end of the computer and i have seen way too many shows that really make you think about the internet.

Hi! I live in Florida and I read your blog. I got your link through Jolene's blog.

The only way to have a blog "just for family and friends" is to password-protect it. It isn't that hard to do! Silly people. It's one thing to keep your family and friends in mind when posting, but quite another to be hostile to the rest of the public when you are putting everything out in public ...

I'm glad you resolved everything with Jolene. At least one thing worked out. :)

Keep up with the exercise! When I was thinking of a triathlon, I felt so much stronger, even though I didn't even get to the triathlon stage. No regrets!

Caroline said...

andi--thanks for stopping by and commenting. i love meeting the people that read my blog

amy--i am also very happy that i worked everything out with jolene. she seems like such a neat person. i have a feeling that if i don't make it to the triathlon part laura will kick my butt

Oh I am so glad Jolene was honest and told you what was going on. You know me..... COMMUNICATE PEOPLE...COMMUNICATE!!

Speaking of lurkers....Yes I am one. I have been surfing this site, and have come across some very intruiging blogs. There are a few that I visit daily, as though I am keeping up with old friends, even though I know nothing about them, except what they choose to reveal through blogs. I don't have a blog on this site, however it has been brought to my attention that it would be an excellent outlet for my rants, raves and general need to get things off of my chest. SO perhaps one day I will get the nerve to allow my true self to be exposed. As a side note, I was raised in a Christian household and was told from a very young age that my feelings for other women were wrong and from the devil and God hated me. I just want you to know that reading your blog has helped me in more ways you could ever imagine...thank you for the truth. Be Well, Jaime

Monogram Queen said...

I don't understand why someone would act that way either. If you are concerned about other people visiting, put up a password protected blog. Jeez.
Stay warm girls!
Oh and I got the CD yesterday. Wonderful! I love it! I will think of you guys every time I play it. I've enjoyed getting to know you too :)

Ragged Around the Edges said...

You can't take it personally. It's the internet and it's hard to undertand everyone's motivations through written words alone. I am often a lurker too, and it takes me a while to comment or I try to only comment when I really have something to say.

Don't sweat it.

Hey, girl! When you stir the waters, you really stir vigorously!! But it was a good thing to bring to discussion.

I, too, received the CD. Haven't listened yet as it just arrived yesterday, and Allan brought it home from the mail box after 9:00. But in a while I'm gonna put it in and hear it. Thanks!!

Hi Caroline,

Just jumped over here after you commented on my blog, although I've visited your blog a few times before. Added you to my favourites now, and will put a link to your blog on mine next time I update.

I'm like you, usually nervous to post comments.
