Shocking Sign

Laura and I LOVE the water. We both have always had the dream that we would love to live right on the water; either a lake or the ocean. Right now, moving to the ocean is not an option. So we thought that we should move to the lake. There are several very nice lakes around the KC area, but most are not in our price range. (if we win the Powerball, then they would be in our range..maybe) So we looked at property at the Lake of the Ozarks. You can find a nice house that is well within our price range. Friday night after we ate dinner we decided to go for a drive. There are about a million houses for sale at the Ozarks. As we were driving, we turned down a street and Laura said, "oh my gosh I swear that one sign said something about (insert the N word here). " We turned around and were shocked at what we saw. Here is the sign. If you have trouble seeing what it says, click on the picture to enlarge it.

We couldn't believe that someone in 2006 would write that word. I am guessing that someone just wrote that, otherwise I would hope someone would take the sign down.

Seeing this sign made me rethink moving down to the Ozarks. They aren't exactly "gay friendly". Who knows what kind of people we would run into, let alone move right next door to. I believe our safety would be in question if we did move down there.

Laura grew up in a small town and found it very difficult (and still does) to be gay and from a small town. It's not something that is widely accepted. I never could fully understand what she was saying until I saw this sign.

It's sad that in 2006 we still have people that judge others by their skin, religion or sexual orientation. In America we should be free to be who we are without the judgement of others.

We should be able to do and live like we want to, it is sad that in 2006 things like that are still happening. Oh and Happy Birthday to your mom!

There's going to be a show on tonight about a family raising their two little girls to be white supremists, and I'm not sure if I'll be able to watch it. We think times are changing, but they aren't changing fast enough.
