Purse

I have not carried a purse for at least 15 years. I think the last time I truly had a purse was when I was in high school; and even then it was a very small one that I could throw over my shoulder. I have never felt the need for a purse and have learned not to carry a lot of stuff with me.

Well, Susan told me that I really should carry a purse. I told her that I didn't need one because if I needed something carried I could just put it in her purse. She didn't think that was too funny. :) Her pursuit to get me to carry a purse was only intensified when we went out to dinner on Saturday. We went to the restaurant where my co-worker L works. I still don't know how it came up, but the two of them started talking about me not having a purse. Here is how the conversation between the two of them went:

S: I was shocked that Caroline doesn't carry a purse.
L: I know, me too. I have never seen her carry anything but her wallet.
S: I don't know any women that don't carry purses.
L: Me neither...well, besides Caroline.

I loved how they talked like I wasn't even there. By the end of the conversation L had told Susan of a store down the street where we could go look for a purse for me. So after dinner we headed over to the store and I started looking through the purses. I found one that I really liked, but it was $79.99. I told Susan that I refused to pay $80 for a purse. She looked at me like, "I don't understand what is wrong with that." We ended up leaving that store with no purse, but she talked me into going to one more store.

Here is what I found at the second store we went to:
I think it's more of a bag, but it's a start. I told Susan to be patient with me because carrying a purse is like having a third arm. It's just really awkward for me.

I have a feeling when we get together this weekend we will be looking for new shoes for me. Her response to my Crocs were, "I can't believe you get your shoes from a Sporting Goods Store."

Hum....I haven't used one for everyday in years but I do have one for dress up and going out if needed. I think you should use one if you want to not because others want you too.

I don't think that you have to carry a purse. It's not a requirement...it's a sterotype. Crocs, well that maybe a different story. ;)

I agree with heyker. I don't carry a purse for everyday. Everything gets stuck into my pockets or into my wallet, which I carry. If it's not small enough to fit into any of those places, I carry a backpack. And, I do have a small black one for dress up, too. But, I definitely think you should carry a purse because you want to and not because others want you to. Same goes for the crocs.

This post was really meant to be funny. One thing about me: I won't do anything I don't want to. As I was going to my car this morning I did notice that it was easier having everything in a bag rather then trying to carry everything.

um.....sorry, I can't even comment for fear of hurting your feelings.

I have to have an enormous bag, because I like to carry a Sudoku book with me in case I get bored waiting in line somewhere. And then I have my wallet, which won't fit right in my pants. And I must have some chapstick. Welcome to the world of purses, Caroline! I like your big tote bag. You can fit a couple books and a whole lot of chapstick in a bag like that!

LOL! Here's another woman that doesn't carry a purse. I have in the past... but long ago past, so long ago that I can't remember when. Probably before I realized I was a Lesbian. LOL

If it doesn't fit in my pocket it is too big. Carie does carry a purse and she does... rarely... put my stuff in her purse.

Around here I know more Lesbians who don't carry a purse (or bag) than do.

Shoes... yeah, I'm with you on that one too. LOL!

I don't carry a purse and haven't for a very long time. I think they are an abomination! Why should a woman have to carry a purse? What does a guy carry? As for crocs...they are FAB!!! Don't let this new love of yours change you into someone you are not my dear.

I can't stand purses either, but carried them as a matter of necessity. I collect stuff, and where do I put all that stuff if I don't have a purse. Of course, the bigger the purse, the more stuff I collect. About a year ago, I started carrying a small leather backpack. Big enough for a wallet, a notebook and a few other items. It's great, so much better than lugging a shoulder bag around, and for some reason I don't forget it...I was always leaving my purse everywhere.

I don't carry one but if I did, I would have MJ make me one. Have you seen the purses she makes? very cute.
Wish I had half the talent she does. As far a shoes go, give me tennis shoes & I am happy. I'll give you a guess on who the shoe person in the family is.....
I wanted to tell you that I am truly happy that things have been going so well for you. congrats. :)

Well I am in the pro-purse crowd, I must have 40, every color, every size. I switch to a different one almost every day, to match my outfit. Maybe I have a purse problem - but I feel nekkid without a purse!

I don't carry a purse . . .that sounds too girly. I carry a bag. I usually go for the messenger type things. Though I have been known, on one occasion, to actually purchase what might have been called a purse.

Good for you for branching out.

I don't carry a purse, haven't since the bright yellow plastic purse with the interchangeable snap on flowers in various colors that my grandparents gave me when I was 9 or 10. I do have a fanny pack that holds my wallet, glasses, house keys, but it's not a purse. As for shoes I live in sneakers. I do own one or two other pairs of shoes, but never wear them.

Im too forgetful and clumsy not to carry a purse - I'd just leavae my keys or cell phone somewhere without it. That said, 80.00 is high for me but I also believe that if I fall madly in love with something and I cant get it out of my mind, I'd spend it.
