Early Start or Late Night?

Last night I ended up going into work until 3am to deal with some things and this is where I found myself sitting for about 2 hours last night. Truman Medical Center is right in the middle of downtown and it is the hospital where most people go that do not have insurance and let me tell you.....this place is interesting at 2 in the morning after a holiday. I had one guy walk up to me with a bloody hand asking to help get a cigarette for him. I just kept walking and I think he cursed me out as I kept walking. By the time I got home and in bed it was close to 3:30am and I know I was asleep before my head hit the pillow.

The one thing that I hate about KC is the fact that there is nothing open in the middle of the night; besides the emergency room. After dealing with the situation at work my weekend supervisor and I wanted to get something to eat and talk about what happened and there wasn't anything open, not even the Denny's. We did find one place open, but it was so packed that we decided to just forget about it and go home. Part of me really wants to live in the country, but since I am living in the city I want things to stay open all night. There is just something exciting to know that if you wanted to go somewhere at 2:30am to get something to eat you can find a place. Kansas City is not that city.

OK, I am off to the pool to catch up on my sleep.

Sorry you had to work. Hopefully lying by the pool will help give you more energy. You are right...the country will not increase your odds of something being open at 2:30 in the morning.

Denny's not open??? What has happened to KC since I left there? Wow! Has the blight of our old neighborhood spread farther? I can't get over that!

I had a few of those "all-nighters" involving emergency rooms in my day, too. Hated those. It takes a while to wind down after that kind of thing.

Bummer about work, even more no place to eat. Thanks for the pool time.

Yes the emergency room at any time is not for the faint of heart!

I can't believe there is nothing open in KC. Don't y'all even have a Waffle House?!
