Magic

This Saturday I am helping my best friend with a conference her agency is having (well, it's actually a basketball clinic) and I get to meet M*agic Johnson. How cool is that? I am not a huge basketball fan, but I still think it's pretty cool that I will have a chance to meet him. And when I say meet, I mean probably just seeing him from across the room. But to me, that is meeting him. :)

So far no problems with my blog. I did have a visitor from Louisiana yesterday and my first thought was it was Laura, but I really don't think it was. And even if it was I really don't care.

The countdown has begun for the big move. I have talked MG into going to Time Warner this weekend to upgrade her cable. Right now she just has basic cable and no DVR box. I told her I just had to have a DVR box so I could record my Little House on the Prairie. I swear, Little House is better then Xanax for me. It calms me down in the evenings and helps with the transition from work to home. Thankfully MG is OK with upgrading the cable. I have so much to do between now and next Friday, but I know it will all get worked out. I am getting a little nervous about the cats and their transition. I think I am most worried about Ben. Although, my best friend was over on Sunday night and for the very first time ever, Ben just walked out from behind the couch and went right to my friend. Maybe, just maybe after 6 years he is realizing I would never bring someone in the house the would hurt him.

This weekend the movie Into the Wild comes out in theatres. I loved this book and can't wait to see the movie. I don't know if we will have time to go see it this weekend, but I am hoping. A few weeks ago I won movie passes for going that "extra mile" at work. Nothing better then going to the movies and having free tickets.

Did anyone watch Kid Nation last night? I watched it and actually really liked it. It broke my heart though when some of the kids were so homesick. One boy went home at the end of the show because he just missed his parents so much. He was the cutest little boy and I hated seeing him so upset and sad. I don't think I would ever let my kids go on a show like that. What were those parents thinking????

Happy Friday Eve everyone.

Sounds like a neat opportunity!

I wanted to watch Kid Nation, but totally forgot it was on!!

I want to see Into the Wild too, but it has more to do with the soundtrack by Eddie Vedder than anything else. I won't get to catch it this weekend though cause Hubby is on call for work so that rules out any movies.

Have fun meeting Magic! Sounds like fun.

I was totally e-mailing Cheeky during that show and had some of the same thoughts.

Good luck with the move.

Ahhh yes, I watched it and already have my favorites. The little guy that left is the same age as my son and there is NO WAY he would have stayed either....now teenage daughter on the other hand - she would sooooo be the boss of that place LOL

I bet you are getting really excited about moving! It was crazy trying to combine households at first but it has worked well!

Hi Caroline! I must admit that I've lurked on your blog as well !

I watched Kid Nation and had mixed feelings about it. Maybe it is too much for some of the little ones. I felt so bad for the few who were homesick.

Good luck with your move! I hope your cats adjust alright.

I think the cats will be okay, glad Ben is becoming more sociable. That's good!
I did not watch KidNation. I refuse to get sucked into anymore TV :)
Hey that totally qualifies as "meeting" Magic!
When I worked as a hotel deskclerk Dr J (Julius Erving) came in, my comment "Do you play basketball?". The man had on full Sixers sweats etc. I'm such a DORK hehe... Have fun today! And Boo Ya on winning free movie tix for going the extra mile at work!

Well, on Kid Nation, you already know my opinion on that. Might be cute (I didn't/won't watch) but I have concerns about the message it sends to children. Kids need to be kids, and we are already pushing them to grow up too quickly in our society. This show sends a message that kids can do adult tasks, and I believe some children out there will try to become independent at an early age. But I'm an old fogey who would like kids to be kids AT LEAST into their teens. I worked with WAY too many children who were forced to assume adult responsibility at a young age and it causes irreparable damage. Color me grumpy.

But on a cheerier note ... :) ... Cool to possible brush elbows with a celeb! That's always fun. I got to do a lot of that in my 20s, and it never got old. Yet I disdain the TV shows that delve into their lives. Figure that one out.

I'm with you on the DVR. I can't imagine not having one now. Even more than recording, I use it to pause or a snack or potty break, and back up when I missed a line. Love it! And I'm glad Ben is "coming out"!! I'm sure that MG will win him over in fairly short time. With the move thrown in, it may take a backslide, but he will come around when he figures out that you're still there with him.

How's my Brady buddy doing?
